Lent Course

Lent Course 2019
Not a Tame Lion!

or Living with an uncontrollable God

“Not a tame lion” is a 5 week Lent course (with a bonus sixth week after Easter) to helps us explore how to live with the unexplained, with darkness, with pain, with limitations.  Each 90 minute session uses clips from The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe and from Shadowlands, the film of the most dramatic time in Lewis’s life, and looks at some of what Jesus said as he headed towards his own death. Together can we start to make sense of what we don’t understand?
Each of our Small Groups will be following this course during Lent - you might want to join a group just for Lent, or for everyone not in a Small Group, the course will run at 6pm each Sunday evening, starting 17th March in St Peter’s Church Centre.

The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe

Warm up for our Lent course by bringing a friend or two to our free showing of this film in the Church Centre at 3pm on Sunday 10th March.  Everyone welcome.  To guarantee a seat, please ask for a ticket from the church office.

A little Lent reading

How would you like to enjoy a brilliant Lent in the company of an excellent book?

For an easy, but deeply engaging read, we thoroughly recommend 'Liturgy of the Ordinary'.  Excellent and easy, and brings a whole new perspective to everyday life.  It was recommended to me 9 months ago and I've been buying copies to gift to people ever since!

A little 'heavier' is 'Reconciliation'.  Forty short chapters - each a reflection on a Bible passage, often with new insights.
